Bob has arrived :)

Bob has a name :) If you don't know it by now, it is IZAAK GREGORY LANDIS. Yes....most people spell it Isaac....but since when was I like "most people??" So thanks!!

Birth Story:
Mom and I got to the hospital at 7am. They hooked me up to IVs...got some meds I needed (i had a slight infection that had to be treated with antibiotics before delivery) I had to answer a ton of questions, fill out paperwork..blah blah blah. Then around 9am my Dr. came in and tried to break my water...attempt 1 and 2=fail. That was not fun....not at all. So they decided to hook me up to potocin..which I had feared, because I have heard horror stories about that stuff, so I was nervous about that. My contractions started after probably 30 to 45 minutes (i think) and they were about 4 minutes apart. . .then 2.5 minutes apart....then 1 minute apart. At about the 2.5 minute mark, we were just sitting and chatting and we heard a loud KICK in the monitor and I knew it was my water...thats when things REALLY started moving. At one point I told my nurse I would wait an hour or so for the epidural, then after about 10 minutes I couldn't stand it anymore and just asked for it. I wasn't trying to be superwoman...lets be real here.
So they started to administer the epidural and everything was going fine..but they think my body was progressing too fast, which is why the epidural decided not to really do its job, leading to them using the maximum dose of epidural and having to give me a dose of another stronger anesthetic. And about 10 minutes later I felt better...10 minutes after that I thought I was dead. I couldn't open my eyes, I couldn't speak, my face was numb...NO FUN. Finally I saw the nurse out of the corner of my eye and said "I am in a bad place, and you have to get me out." I asked to also have the epidural drip unplugged. I didn't want to feel pain, but pain was going to be better than what I was feeling at that time. It was about then that my blood pressure shot way down and they decided they had to give me a boost of epinephren (sp??). I think it was about 10 or 15 minutes later that I felt a little better, but I couldn't feel anything still. I was still completely numb. I was FREAKING OUT that I wasn't going to be able to feel anything, to push...i did NOT want a c-section....I was afraid of this b/c then I wouldn't be able to hold or pick up Eli b/c of the weight restrictions. But the Dr. reassured me I would be fine. So...the nurse asked me if I felt like I needed to push...I didnt feel like anything b/c I was so numb. hahaha. So she checked me and I was ready to go. I pushed for 8 minutes, 4 times....and Izaak was here! I have no clue how I actually pushed because I literally couldn't feel a thing. Izaak was born at 1:52pm. He weighed 7lbs 6oz and was 19 inches long. Just perfect :) For now I call him Izaak, but I tend to shorten things....some are calling him Ike and Steph calls him Iggy (which I actually love...hehe).
It was nice this time to be able to have a few moments with my baby before the bombarding of people. We had about 30-45 minutes just us. . .it was so nice. I knew it was going to be emotional for me because, obviously, we aren't living in the most desirable situation. You dream of having a baby and going home with your family and living this perfect life....instead I went home to my parents. I will stay here for a couple of weeks and then head back to Stephs. Zach was at the hospital a lot....he helped out with Eli a lot too...so that was great!!
So far Izaak seems like a great baby. He doesnt like his diaper changed very much, but Eli is nearly 15 months old and still screams when I change his diaper, so its not like I'm not used to it. ha! He slept pretty well last night....so I actually feel rested, for now. He is eating every 3 to 4 hours and sleeping most of the time. He decided he wanted to party at 4:30am until about 6 or 6:30...so I found that annoying, but then we both slept until 10:45am...so I feel great!
Eli has seen his little brother a few times and its the cutest thing ever. He holds his hand and kisses him, smiles at him and goes away to play. Then he comes back to check on him...then he goes to play. I haven't been alone with just the 2 boys yet, so we will see how that goes. . .tomorrow is the day. I'm very nervous....and when I think about it, I kinda get angry...at the obvious....because once again, it isn't supposed to be like this, not at all. whatever though....tis life I suppose. Tis life.
We had tons of visitors and I thank everyone of you for your visits, gifts, amazing words and acts of kindness, etc. I am EXTREMELY thankful for all of you. . .especially my parents and Stephanie. They have been my rock(s) for the last 6 weeks and were amazing during my labor, delivery and stay at the hospital. Although I get down about the way things are sometimes, I do realize I am so lucky and things could be SO much worse. I know that I am BLESSED.

Thats what you get for now. Here are some pictures for you :)

  1. I just found your blog and I'm so glad things went ok during your labor...scary to kinda go numb, but glad you delivered a healthy boy!
